Dubai: Tunisian coach Yousuf Al Zuwawi has signed a one-year contract as coach of the Al Ahli senior team for the new season.

Al Zuwawi trained Al Shaab in the current season and helped them stay in the race for the First Division League title for most part of the season. But the team's fortunes suffered a reversal in the last weeks when they lost three matches in a row and in the process also bowed out of the title race.

The Tunisian coach had earlier said that he would not be able to continue his post with Al Shaab in the new season due to various circumstances.

Al Ahli will be the fourth UAE club Al Zuwawi will be in charge of in recent seasons. He had also trained Emirates club and Sharjah.

Al Zuwawi will replace French coach Alain Michel, who was with the club for only three months. Al Ahli changed three coaches in the current season: German Winfried Schaefer, Rasheed Bin Mahmoud of Morocco and Michel.

Al Ahli will be looking to Al Zuwawi to revive their title hopes after the defending champions bowed out of the title race early this season.
