Dubai Al Wasl Club came down heavily on two of their errant players, Majid Nasser and Rashid Eisa, who were sent off in the second leg of GCC Champions League final on Sunday night. In an urgent meeting on Tuesday, their board of directors decided to request the UAE Football Association to slap goalkeeper Nasser with a one-year ban from all footballing activities while they would deduct 50 per cent of Eisa’s salary for two months.

The marching orders to the pair paved the way for Bahrain’s Al Muharrakh to overturn a 3-1 deficit of the first leg final and win the title on penalties. Nasser, a national team goalkeeper, kicked a rival player and head-butted another while Eisa was also guilty of headbutting a player from the Bahraini club.

The Al Wasl board will write to the UAEFA not to consider Nasser for any national duty for his “disgraceful behaviour” which had a negative impact on the club as well country’s footballing image. This is the second instance of indiscretion from Nasser, who earned a 17-match suspension earlier for slapping Al Ahli coach and spitting at Yousuf Mohammad following a league game.

Apart from the financial penalty and written warning to Eisa, Al Wasl will also not give their share of bonus to the pair earned from their GCC Champions League campaign.
