Kuwait City: Mohammad Salim Al Enazi and Brazilian Oliveira scored second-half goals as Al Wasl beat Al Quwa Al Jawiya 2-1 on Wednesday, ending the Iraqi team's hope of a berth in the Asian Champions League quarterfinals.

Al Wasl, who were all but mathematically eliminated entering the day's play, lost all hopes when Saipa defeated Al Kuwait 1-0 earlier. They took a 2-0 lead by the 65th minute, and despite an 89th-minute tally by Akram Hashem, Al Quwa Al Jawiya became the last team to be eliminated from contention.

The results left Saipa atop the group with 11 points, five better than Al Wasl and six ahead of both Al Kuwait SC and Al Quwa Al Jawiya with one match remaining.
