Abu Dhabi: The UAE FA Disciplinary Committee (FADC) hit the supporters of Al Wasl and Al Shabab hard in its quest to keep the country's football stadium clean of bad conduct.

The FADC fined each of the two clubs Dh10,000 for the bad behaviour of their supporters during their league matches last week.

The Al Wasl supporters used dirty gestures towards Adil Nasib, the Al Jazira defender in the match which Al Wasl won 2-0 while the Al Shabab fans were fined following their team's 1-0 home defeat against Hatta which led them to attack the referee.

"We will never allow such unsporting behaviour in our stadiums," Hamad Harith, the Chairman FADC, said yesterday.

"We, in the FADC, will never tolerate attacking referees or insulting the players of other teams."

Meanwhile, the management of Al Wasl club announced their regret to the incident in which some of their fans insulted Nasib.

Update
Red card was 'wrong'

The red card for Al Shaab defender Thamer Mohammad was wrong, according to a senior refereeing official. UAE Fifa referee Ali Hamad sent Thamer off for collecting two yellow cards in his team's league match against Al Ahli.

Salem Saeed, the secretary of the UAE FA Referees Committee (FA RC), who lectures and referees in their weekly meetings to discuss the matches, said that the sending off was the wrong decision.

"The decision was not correct but these mistake do happen in football because the incident happened following a fast counter attack and while the referee was about 40 yards away and saw it only from the back," Salem said.

Meanwhile, Salah Amin, the former referee who resigned earlier this week from the FA RC justified his decision saying, "I have not added anything new to the committee."

Amin refused to talk about the conflicts in the committee which led to the resignation of many referees.
