Al Nasr to be first UAE club to have own channel
Al Nasr Club will be launching their own satellite channel from January 2009, becoming the first UAE club to have their own satellite sports channel.

Dubai: Al Nasr Club will be launching their own satellite channel from January 2009, becoming the first UAE club to have their own satellite sports channel.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, the Al Nasr Club board member and chairman of the football committee, was behind the idea of having an own sports channel for the oldest club in the UAE, which was established in 1945.
"Nasrawina is the name of the new channel. I take this opportunity to thank Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and the Al Nasr Club President, for his great support. We cannot begin such a big initiative without the support of Shaikh Hamdan," said Shaikh Mohammad Bin Maktoum in a statement.
In the backdrop of UAE soccer entering professional league, Shaikh Mohammad said they had to come up with new ideas, which would contribute in developing the standard of the game in the country.
"It will be a new addition to the sport channels (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah) to serve the sports and youth in the UAE," he said.
"The Honorary President of the channel is Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The channel will start on January 1, 2009 at the Dubai Studios city.
The channel board of directors are: Chairman: Shaikh Mohammad Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, manager: Saeed Saif Al Muhairi, deputy manager: Qais Abdullah Al Dhaleyi, programmes manager: Faisal Al Qasim, follow up manager: Badr Al Muhairi, consultant: Niyaz Seddiq.
