Dubai: Al Nasr confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Renan Garcia for €1.2 million (Dh5.9 million) from Italian Serie A side Sampdoria on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old, formerly of Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro, Portugal’s Vitoria Guimaraes and Romania’s CFR Cluj, replaces outgoing Brazilian midfielder Leonardo Lima.
Garcia is the second summer signing for Al Nasr under Serbian coach Ivan Jovanovic after Macedonian striker Ivan Trickovski from Belgium’s Club Brugge. Australian midfielder Brett Holman and Senegalese striker Ebrahima Toure are believed to have been retained.
Elsewhere, Fujairah have confirmed the signing of Algeria national team captain Majid Bougherra, 31, on a two-year deal.
Central defender Bougherra, who led his country in this summer’s Fifa World Cup in Brazil, is formerly of France’s Gueugnon, England’s Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic and Scotland’s Glasgow Rangers, and had most recently been released by Qatar’s Al Lekhwiya.
Bougherra is the club’s second signing of the summer after Ivorian forward Boubacar Sanogo from Germany’s Energie Cottbus and could be joined by another Algerian in 30-year-old former Napoli and Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda, according to reports.
Meanwhile, AC Milan’s Brazilian striker Robinho, 30, is understood to be considering an offer from Al Ahli.
Robinho, formerly of Brazil’s Santos, Spain’s Real Madrid and England’s Manchester City, has reportedly been offered a two-year deal worth €4.5 million (Dh22.2 million) a season plus bonuses.
