Dubai: The Disciplinary Committee of the UAE Football Association (UAEFA) handed down the heaviest punishment on a player when it fined Al Jazira's Marcio Nascimento Rosario Dh10,000 and also handed him a six-match suspension.

The Brazilan pro, who had previously played for Juventude at home, scored the second goal in Al Jazira's 3-0 win over Al Wahda.

Video footage showed the player spitting on Al Wahda's Yaqoub Al Hossani, which resulted in a red card.

In another incident, former champions Al Shabab were slapped with a hefty Dh50,000 fine for criticising the refereee Mohammad Abdul Karim in the media after losing their league match 5-2 to Al Ain.

Al Nasr were fined Dh100,000 at the start of the season for a similar act.
