Dubai: Al Diyafah High School, who hosted the seventh Inter-School 7-a-side football tournament, won the event on March 14 as they beat St Mary's School of Dubai 2-1 in the final.

The final match was so exiting with both teams showing a mesmerising streak of football. St Mary's took the lead within six minutes through Clinton Barretto.

Al Diyafah then went on to equalise after two minutes through Ali Shehabi, who hit a sharp grounder to beat the goalkeeper.

Al Diyafah, however, dominated throughout the game. Brendon Leitao's long range hit the post and went out in the second half and the very next minute Josanto's grounder also hit the post.

Both the teams were level in regular time, with the first half of extra-time ending goalless.

In the second half Al Diyafah were able to score through a Josanto grounder, courtesy of a well-connected cross from Ali Shehabi. The matches were conducted on a league-cum -knockout basis.

Meanwhile, Westminster school continued their domination in Inter-School soccer by winning their sixth tournament this year.

Westminster's silverware journey started with the most prestigious Our Own Inter-School trophy, followed by the Deans International School Trophy for both under-15 and under-18 events.

This was followed by the Dia-Dora Trophy in the same age groups, and the clinching of the ninth Al Etihad Trophy.
