Rio de Janeiro: Former Brazil striker Adriano has sparked fresh reports of a return to European football by sending a Twitter message to his “new fans” at French club La Havre.

The 32-year-old, who has not played regular football since 2010, has been in talks with the second division side since October, reports Xinhua.

“Merry Christmas to my new fans at Le Havre. I am very happy to join you for a new sporting challenge,” the former Brazil striker wrote on twitter.

The message prompted local newspaper O Globo to report that the former Brazil striker is set to join La Havre in the January transfer window.
