Dubai: Multiple world champions Fazza are thrilled at being the trendsetters in the world of powerboat racing.

The team’s duo of Nader Bin Hindi and Arif Al Zafe’in have already wrapped up another world crown going into the fifth and final round of the 2014 UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Series at the Mina Seyahi waters off Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) this weekend.

The Fazza pair have an unbeatable tally of 1,600 points, with stablemates Dubai in second with 789 and a trio of Italian machines — the T-Bone Station, Six and Marine Investment Sud — completing the top five.

Fazza have been the dominant force in all four rounds held this season. They began with victory in Dubai, followed by similar results in Fujairah, Napoli and Stresa in the summer.

This has given them the opportunity to try out newly-developed and more reliable 350hp XCAT Mercury 4-stroke engines during this week’s Emirates Airline XCAT Grand Prix.

“Ours is a team that is used to leading from the front. We are not afraid of innovation as this is what will take our sport forward. And at this stage of the championship we can afford to try out something different,” Al Zafe’in told Gulf News.

“We have a wonderful team backing us that helps us innovate all the time. We are a big outfit and we are always looking to improve as it is important for us to lead our sport forward.

“There is no pressure on us to perform and win this weekend. We have been testing the new engines for the past few days and I feel we are in for a wonderful weekend ahead.

“Much of our testing has been on the flat. This weekend it is time to see how the new engines will behave in the rough. It is time for something new and it is time for learning. We are pretty excited about it all.”
