Dubai: When Dulsco Sports Club decided to stage their Ramadan night tournament last year at the Zabeel Park cricket ground, many people criticised their decision.

Some asked whether the ground and pitch could be fit for cricket and some even feared that players could get injured. Today it is the busiest ground in Dubai with even the Dubai Cricket Council (DCC) staging their tournaments.

The Dubai Cricket Council staged their inter collegiate tournament recently and is now hosting the their Twenty20 event on this ground. Due to shortage of cricket grounds, even companies and organisations are now waiting to get a slot to play there.

"From March 18 we have booked the grounds to stage the Corporate cricket tournament," said Shaik Rafik, the administrator of Dulsco.

The DCC will also stage their inter school tournament at this ground soon.

In the DCC Twenty20 Cup match being played at the Zabeel Park under floodlights. Air India team beat Transgulf by 64 runs.
