Sharjah: Yogi Group and Phoenix Medicine, two strong domestic teams in the UAE, will clash for the sixth Al Dhaid Ramadan tournament title.

In the semi-final, Yogi Group displayed their strength by halting Interface Transworld’s victory run by eight wickets. In the other semi, Phoenix Medicines marched into the final by beating Alubond Tigers by four wickets.

Yogi Group owed their success to Salman Faris, who wrecked the strong Interface batting line-up for 75 runs with a spell of four wickets for nine. Chasing the small total wasn’t difficult for the Yogi Group’s batsmen, who won the match in just 10.1 overs.

Phoenix Medicine owed their success to Mohammad Azhar’s three0wicket spell for 17 runs backed by Asif Mumtaz’s two wickets for 27. Alubond, who had made big scores in this tournament, could muster only 109 for 9. Despite the easy total, Phoenix collapsed in their chase by losing wickets frequently before they finally managed to get past the target in the penultimate ball.

In the ongoing Dulsco Ramadan tournament at Zabeel Park, Multiplex International registered their third successive victory through Imran Haider’s spell of three wickets for just six runs to ensure a six-wicket win over Jashanmal to top Group D and gear up for their quarter-final match. Fellow Group D side Future King Heroes have also made it to the last-eight stage.

In another match, Emrill scored a consolation win by thrashing Gargash Gladiators by 108 runs, to round off a disappointing campaign in the event.

In the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2014 Twenty20 cricket tournament, Gulam Shabbir cracked a superb century as Seven Seas Strikers registered another convincing win to overhaul Alubond Tigers by six wickets in a Group C match.
