Perth: Ravichandran Ashwin, who won the Man of the Match award with his haul of four for 25 against UAE, revealed that he is getting into a nice rhythm with his bowling.

Ashwin, had also bagged three for 41 against South Africa in India’s 130 runs victory at Melbourne. “My wrist is getting into a good position and that helps with the arm ball, the breeze helped as well. It was good to play the big teams initially, now we’re on a roll.”

Ashwin is being intelligently used by Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and is delighted that he has finally got a four-wicket haul in the World Cup. “I bowl at such phases of the game, it’s more of cutting the runs out, it can get a little difficult, but the lack of a four-wicket haul was playing on my mind.”

Ashwin revealed that when it comes to one-day cricket he loves to go for the kill. “When it comes to this format, I’m pretty much unselfish, it doesn’t matter if I get the numbers or not as long as I put in the effort required,” he said.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was full of praise for Ashwin improving with every match. “Ashwin bowled really well. What’s really important is he is bowling according to the wicket as you have to change your bowling to some extent. You have to find the right length and the right trajectory to bowl, and I felt Ashwin did that really well.

“He did use his faster one, also, and he was quite successful to get a bit of swing on it, and that was the reason he got a couple of wickets out of those particular deliveries. I felt his line and length was superb and the pace at which he bowled.”

Former Indian captain and leg spinner Anil Kumble, here to be inducted into Hall of Fame, had hailed Ashwin. “I see a lot of myself in Ashwin. He is a fantastic cricketer with a lot of work ethic. Obviously, he is a far better batsman than me. Like me, Ashwin has also been criticised for not getting wickets overseas but again, he has a lot of chance of improving.”
