Dubai: The UAE cricket team will take on Bermuda from today in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Intercontinental Shield four-day match at the National Sports Centre stadium in Bermuda.

The UAE team, led by Khurram Khan, left from Dubai after an intense coaching camp under Collin Wells, the coach of the team and fitness training under physiotherapist Chitrala Sudhaker.

Bermuda announced their 15-member squad which includes many players from the 2007 World Cup. Former Glamorgan player David Hemp is leading the team with Stephen Outerbridge as vice-captain. Among their top players are Irving Romaine and Tucker brothers, Kevin and Tamauri.

UAE have to win the match to make it to the final of the event to be held in UAE from November 25.

In domestic cricket, Yogi Group cricket team which has been making waves this season by lifting many titles, have attracted an Indian company to sponsor their team. India's JK Cements has agreed to sponsor Yogi Group following their impressive show in UAE's domestic cricket for the last nine years.

"We are delighted that our hard work is being rewarded. It is an honour that an Indian company has agreed to sponsor a UAE local team. This support will be a big boost for the team and help us to continue to maintain our form in domestic tournaments," said Shiva Pagarani, the captain of the team to Gulf News..
