Dubai: The UAE’s top three batsmen will be using the same brand of equipment as Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara.
UAE skipper Khurram Khan, who has been scoring heavily in international cricket, hard-hitters Shaimon Anwar and Swapnil Patil have received sponsorship support form India’s leading cricket goods manufacturer SS (Sareen Sports) through UAE-based I-Sports. UAE take on hosts Bangladesh in their first warm up match for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 Cup on Wednesday at the Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. The players will be playing with these cricket equipment in World Cup matches.
Speaking to Gulf News, Sunil Israni, the founder of Sharjah-based I-Sports, said: “Since I-Sports is a local UAE-based brand, we consider it our duty to support these dedicated cricketers that are going to represent the UAE in international tournaments. I thank Jatin Sareen, the Director of Sareen Sports, for readily agreeing to sponsor these cricketers who have been top performers for the UAE and back our vision to encourage the game in the region.”
In the wake of UAE’s sterling performance when they qualified for both Twenty20 and 50-over World Cups, the team received sponsorship support from OSN, one of the leading pay TV broadcasters. All the players will wear OSN Logo on their team jersey during matches. I-Sports had earlier supplied UAE team with Shrey helmets, the same type of helmets being used by India players.
