Mumbai: Former Australian captain Mark Taylor will interview Little Master Sachin Tendulkar at 2014 Bradman Gala Dinner on Thursday (October 30).

Revealing the name of the interviewer, David Wells, the Curator of Bradman Foundation said in a telephonic interview from Sydney: “We are all very excited to welcome him. On the night of the dinner, he will be presented with a citation [along with former Australian Captain Steve Waugh] confirming the Bradman Foundation’s appreciation for the role that he has performed. He has confirmed his attendance.

“We have not scheduled any speech by Tendulkar, but the master batsman will be interviewed by Mark Taylor on the Gala Dinner night. Taylor will ask several questions, keeping them up close and personal and it will be followed by a question-answer session with the audience.”

Sir Don’s sound bites in 1985, when he was first inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame, encapsulates his values.

“When considering the stature of an athlete, I place great store on certain qualities, which I believe to be essential in addition to skill. They are that a person conducts his or her life with dignity, with integrity, with courage and perhaps most of all modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, determination and competitiveness.

“Sachin Tendulkar has clearly met Sir Don’s objectives with distinction and continues to be an example of everything that is good and admirable in the game of cricket,” he added.

“On Friday, Sachin will be taken to Bowral where he will meet the children of the Bowral Public School where Bradman studied. This will be Sachin’s first visit to Bowral.

“He will also be taken to the Bradman Museum where he donated one of his 2003 shirts. Tendulkar is scheduled to return to Mumbai on Saturday,” Wells signed off.
