"It has been a wonderful two years for our council. We staged 20 tournaments spread over Sharjah Stadium and Al Dhaid Cricket Village. In 2010 we hosted 389 matches and in 2011 we played 396 matches. Some of the teams put on spectacular performances while some cricketers were really outstanding and hence we felt that they all deserved to be honoured," remarked Mazhar Khan, the secretary of the Sharjah Cricket Council.

The council also honoured upcoming women's cricketers, umpires and their academy coaches.

Special awards were presented to women cricketers Ayesha Naushad Khan and Rashida Shabbir Hussain. Umpire Tariq Butt and Coach Mohammad Hyder received huge applause from the audience while being honoured for their contribution to the game.

Kabir Khan, the UAE cricket team coach, gave away some of the prizes. Another outstanding performer was Eurocon Alubond's captain Nazir Aziz.
