Sharjah: Youngsters training at the Sharjah Cricket Academy, which is run by the Sharjah Cricket Council, are all set to embark on a tour of Sri Lanka from December 21 to 30.

"We are keen to provide exposure to youngsters in different conditions. A few months back we had visited United Kingdom too. These tours are very helpful for youngsters and hence Sharjah Cricket Council has taken the initiative to organise different tours," Mazhar Khan, the secretary of the Sharjah Cricket Council told Gulf News.

Elaborating on the Sri Lankan tour, Khan said: "Our academy team will be based in Matale and play ten matches against schools, academies and district teams in the Under-13 and Under-16 age categories.

"We picked Sri Lanka for the tour due to their excellent infrastructure for school cricket which is also very competitive," said Khan.
