Dubai: Australian fast bowler Brett Lee says he is confident security measures for the IPL will leave no room for worry among the Australian clan of players due to play in the tournament which begins on March 12.

There had been widespread fears over security within the Australian camp after their participation was first threatened by right-wing Hindu group Shiv Sena.

Then followed news that the tournament itself was alleged to be under threat from an Al Qaida network which led to world cricketers' chief Tim May warning of potential withdrawals by several players.

But Lee, who has often referred to India as his second home, told XPRESS: "It's about having the right measures in place. If you find all those measures have been sorted out, well, then yeah, great. India is a wonderful country, I love it."

The 33-year-old is currently recovering from an elbow injury, and as he checked out the new cricket facilities at The Sevens during his visit to Dubai, you could sense his desire to get back into action.

"It's going well. I have been having rehab every single day and been working very hard on my fitness," said Lee.

"As I said this is the first opportunity for me to play post surgery. So I'm actually really looking forward to getting back there and playing and what better place to play than in India," he added.

Sevens heaven for cricketers

There will be six pitches once work on the complex is finished.

  • The other four will be made of the all-weather sabka surface.
  • Construction of the pitches has been coordinated by the Dubai Cricket Council with support from leading BCCI curator Radhey Shyam.
  • There will also be six practice wickets.
  • The pavilion will have four dressing rooms and a snack bar although an additional 12 dressing rooms at the nearby Players' Club will also be available to players.
  • A shaded viewing area will overlook both grass pitches while all the pitches will be surrounded by banks for the benefit of spectators.
