Dubai: Pakistan Test star Hasan Raza cracked an unbeaten century to lead Alubond to an inning and 81 runs victory over GMW Royals in the two-day Danube Test series at the ICC Global Academy Oval ground.

Raza, who has played in seven Test matches and over 200 first class matches and is well versed in the longer version of the game, cracked an unbeaten 107 off 145 balls. He was overnight unbeaten on 68 and through brilliant stroke-play swelled Alubond’s first innings total to 301 for 6 before his team declared. His knock contained 12 boundaries and two sixes

Earlier, GMW got bowled out for 156 in the first innings. After conceding a lead of 145 runs, they began to crumble from the start of the second innings again. UAE spinner Nasir Aziz with three wickets was well supported by Sheraz Ahmed and Sharif Asad with two wickets each.

Alubond Tigers lead the series with 35 points, while Danube Lions are second with 23. Al Faraa have earned eight points while GMW Royal are last with only five.

The second round of the tournament commences next Thursday with Al Faraa taking on GMW Royal while Danube Lions play Alubond Tigers on Friday. The series is sponsored and organised by Danube in collaboration with Dubai Cricket Council with Delhi Darbar and Cha Cha Chai as sponsors.
