Dubai: RAK Dolphin Duty Free beat arch-rivals Dubai Duty Free in three straight sets in a best-of-five-sets face-off for the Dubai Priyadarshini Cup at the Al Twar Volleyball Courts in Al Ghusais.
The tournament drew 16 teams and was held to commemorate the UAE's 40th National Day.
The initiative was supported by the Volleyball Federation of Dubai and the NRI Association of Dubai.
Dolphin Duty Free dominated proceedings throughout the final despite the 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 scoreline, combining booming smashes with quick defensive work.
The Dolphin team had Indian senior team captain Naveen Raja Jacob and junior India skipper Selva Prabhu in their ranks. They were well supported by libero Dhiraj Bangera.
The best smasher of the match award went to Selva Prabhu of RAK Duty Free, while his teammate Naveen Raja Jacob bagged the player of the tournament award. Nazir of Dubai Duty Free was adjudged the best lifter.
This is RAK Dolphin Duty Free's seventh trophy of the season.
