Dubai: Multiplex International lived up to their tag as title favourites in the 13th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament Cup being held under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council by defeating Future King Heroes by four wickets in the final at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Future King Heroes scored a challenging 144 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Multiplex chased down the target with three balls to spare, losing six wickets in the process. It was the culmination of an unbeaten run by Multiplex, who deservingly pocketed the winners’ cash prize of Dh5,000 and lifted the trophy.

Future King Heroes received Dh2,500 following their battling performance. They could have posted a bigger total but for the early exit of their consistent opener Yakoob Masih, who fell to Abdul Haq in the third over. Amit Varma rose to the challenge and steadied the innings with a fighting 51 and even put on 47 with Yasir Kalim (22). Varma’s 51 came off 33 balls with two boundaries and three sixes.

Mohammad Yashir put the brakes on the Future King Heroes’ scoring with a spell of four wickets for 22 runs.

Multiplex began their chase on a shaky note, losing their openers Kashif Butt and Syed Maqsood for no score. In walked Mohammad Shehzad and thrashed the Future King Heroe’s attack. He hit four boundaries and six sixes on his way to 62 off 32 balls. Mohammad Zahid chipped in with 37 and Obaid Ullah hit 22 to ensure the victory.

Johnson Alexander, Director of Dulsco’s Human Resource department, along with top officials from Dubai Cricket Council and Dulsco gave away the prizes. The tournament was supported by Multiplex International LLC, Red Bull, Cedar Tree and Dubai Municipality.
