Abu Dhabi: Tariq Afridi and Ramveer Rai both hammered centuries to set up victories for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Interface Transworld, respectively, in the UBL Twenty20 Cup.

Afridi smashed 100 off 58 balls and shared a 181-run stand for the first wicket with Nadeem Rahim (82) for ADCB to post 219 for three and restrict Etihad Airways to 160 for five at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium. Afridi smashed 18 fours and a six and Rahim’s 43-ball knock was highlighted by nine hits to the fence and five clearing the grounds.

Etihad, in reply, got off to a shaky start losing two wickets for 11 before opener Pragash Ramachandran began a counter attack to score 78 off 46 deliveries but was not good enough for the airline lads.

Rai thumped 103 off 48 balls against Ferco who were bundled out for 47. Interface sent in to bat first posted 194 for six to notch up their second win of the tournament.

Rai arrived at the crease on the fall of the second wicket at 42 in the sixth over and smashed 13 fours and two sixes to score more than half his team’s total.

In other games, William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana stunned UBL by five wickets, Alubond Tigers edged out Danube Lions by five runs and Grand Mid West emerged winners by 39 runs over LifeLine Hospital.
