Dubai: The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre-Dubai (KMCC) won the The Independence Day 2014 Cup Indoor cricket tournament organised by the Dubai Indian Consulate.

In the final played at Indian Club Indoor stadium Dubai, KMCC beat IBPC convincingly with the confidence gained from their league matches as they remained unbeaten. Batting first, KMCC scored 60 in 8 overs, and then bundled out IBPC for 12 runs in 8 overs.

“It was fairly fought tournament, but I was confident that KMCC [would] win the final having watched their performance in the league rounds,” said Consul General Anuragh Bhushan during the prize-presentation ceremony.

The trophies and medals were distributed during a colourful event held at the Sharjah Indian Association Auditorium.

Team captain Nisar Ahmad Uppala and Dubai KMCC Media wing chairman Hanif Kalmata, received the trophy on behalf of the winners.

T.P. Seetharam, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, was present along with Sharjah Indian Association president K. Balakrishnan, various association leaders, dignitaries, businessmen and KMCC leaders in the UAE.
