New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to spend Rs13.3 million (Dh719,430) for the two Test matches being staged in Mumbai and Chennai, and also allowed the board to spend Rs2.5 million each for three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 matches to be played with visiting England.

The judgement came after the BCCI approached the Supreme Court of India asking for disbursal of funds to the state associations in order to conduct the final two Tests at Mumbai and Chennai, respectively.

The penultimate match is scheduled to be played from Thursday onwards at the Wankhede while the final Test will be played in Chennai from December 16. The SC has also ordered the BCCI to release Rs 2.5 million each for the three ODIs and three T20 matches.

Earlier on November 8, the Apex Court had allowed the BCCI to incur a total expense of Rs5.86 million for the first Test in Rajkot, but also warned the Indian cricket board that no part of the fund would go to the hosting state association — The Saurashtra Cricket Association.

The BCCI was also directed by the Supreme Court to maintain a full list of expenditure made by the board, to be later scrutinised by Lodha Panel’s independent auditor.
