Sharjah: Seven Seas Strikers openers Waqas Ahmad and Hamid Ali put on an unbroken 180 runs for the first wicket to fire their side to victory over Al Jabeen in the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup Twenty20 tournament.

Al Jabeen’s total of 179 for five looked impressive, but Ahmad hit an unbeaten 110 and Ali an unconquered 56 to see Seven Seas to a 10-wicket win with 28 balls to spare.

Ahmad’s score came off just 49 deliveries, with 11 hits to the boundary and seven sixes. Ali played second fiddle in his 43-ball knock, but he also hit four boundaries and three sixes.

Ahmad, who hails from Peshawar in Pakistan, is a consistent scorer for Seven Seas and helped them retain the Eat and Treat Cup and also the Shijana Cup recently.

Batting first, Al Jabeen got off to a good start through Abdur Rahman, who smashed three sixes during his 40 runs off 23 balls. He also shared a 77-run stand with Amit Verma, who went on to hit 72 from only 47 balls including eight boundaries and a six. Yasir Khaleem chipped in with 30 runs.

In the 13th edition of the Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament, Multiplex International became the second team to reach the semi-finals with an emphatic seven-wicket win over Cricket Maxway at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground.

Opener Maqsood Syed’s 62 helped Multiplex chase Maxway’s target of 162 for six with five overs to spare.

Future King Heroes have already book their place in the semi-finals and they now await the winner of the quarter-final between Oud Mehta and hosts Dulsco.

The other quarter-final will feature Global Distribution against Aster DM Healthcare.
