Rohan Gavaskar and Venkatesh Prasad have been confirmed for Dubai tournament

Dubai: Top international cricketers are being contacted by the organisers of the Dubai Super Sixes event to participate in the region's first ever six-a-side tournament.
"Among the players who have confirmed to take part are India's Rohan Gavaskar and Venkatesh Prasad," Denzil Fernandes, the tournament manager, told Gulf News.
The Super Sixes is scheduled to commence from October 1 at the Dubai Sports City's international cricket stadium.
"Within the next few weeks we will get confirmation from more players. The preparations for the tournament are in full swing with 48 corporate teams from all over the UAE confirming their participation," Fernandes added.
Rohan Gavaskar has represented India in 11 One-dayers and twenty Twenty20 matches and is the son of former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar. Prasad was one of India's finest pacers who went on to become their bowling coach.
Meanwhile, Wasim Akram the legendary Pakistan pacer who is the brand ambassador of this event, being organised by Crayon Communications, said: "The response to this inaugural tournament has been absolutely fantastic and I am confident that we will witness some closely fought matches when it takes place."
Crayon Communications have announced that Dh100,000 will be handed over to winning team and that there will also be prizes for spectators.
The tournament, which is being held under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council and supported by Gulf Oil in association with Landmark Group, will conclude on October 15.
The wickets at the 25,000 seater Dubai Cricket Stadium is being prepared for the tournament. "Our matches will be played from 4pm every day and the final will be held under the famous ‘Ring of Fire' lighting system at the Dubai Cricket Stadium," Fernandes said.
As per the rules, each participating team should comprise six players, along with two substitutes, and with the opportunity to choose five neutral fielders from a large pool of players. The format requires each side to play a limited five overs, which they have to complete in 30 minutes. The teams that reach the semi-final will each be assigned a top international cricketer who will play alongside them.
