Dubai:  England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, who announced his retirement last week, will focus on spreading the game in Dubai among schoolchildren.

Flintoff, who lives in Dubai, will help introduce cricket into the physical education curriculum of public schools here. To start, he will hold coaching sessions for 18 students from Ahmad Bin Suliem School (boys) and Al Ibda'a Model School (girls) in Dubai tomorrow.

Flintoff told Gulf News: "I am impressed by the enthusiasm for the game here and am more than happy to help young cricketers here."

Before announcing his retirement he explored possibilities of conducting coaching camps in the UAE.

"The facilities for the game here are excellent. With many international matches being held here youngsters will be attracted to the game."

Flintoff is backed by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
