Dubai: The G Force Cricket Academy has roped in former England pacer Alex Tudor to guide youngsters from the academy through the course of a ten-day training camp in Rajkot, India, from Friday.

Players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravinder Jadeja and Jaydev Unadkat, who have made their way into the Indian team in different formats of cricket, hail from Rajkot, which provides a talent base for the Saurashtra team in the Ranji Trophy domestic tournament in India.

Gopal Jasapara, the Head Coach of the G Force Academy, told Gulf News: “We wanted my academy players to experience the quality of cricket in Saurashtra that is now throwing up outstanding cricketers. We have not only decided to stage the Tudor coaching camp there, but also organise a knockout tournament by including the top teams in Saurashtra.

“After the coaching session from Tudor, the boys will play matches daily with local school teams. We have also organised a tournament in association with Genius school, Rajkot.”

The G Force-Genius tournaments will be for the under-13 and under-16 age groups and G Force will send one team to compete in each category from Dubai for the 25-over event. This will be followed by another eight-team tournament called the G Force Open Saurashtra T20 knockout.

“Tudor will conduct a Talent Hunt programme and Bipin Pujara, a former Ranji Trophy player and uncle of Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been trained under his guidance, will also be part of the programme. The boys will also watch the Saurashtra-Baroda match starting on December 22 and meet top players like Yousuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel,” said Jasapara, who represented Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy matches.
