Dubai: The Dubai Scholars and Cambridge High School registered victories on the opening day of the MaXtalent Inter School cricket tournament at the Al Futtaim Carillion ground in Awir.

Dubai Scholars defeated Indian High School by 43 runs.

Batting first, Dubai Scholars scored 150 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs through opener Jed's 91 runs. Jed batted till the 18th over to put Dubai Scholars in a commanding position.

Indian High School was restricted to 94 runs.

In another match, Cambridge High School scored an exciting four-run win over Westminster.

Fell short

Westminster had to score seven runs in the last over but they could manage only three runs.

For Cambridge, opener Aditya Mavuru hit an unbeaten 65.

He also went on to take two wickets for 12 runs. Aayush too chipped in with a quick 29. Westminster fell short of the target despite Sufiyan's 36 runs.

The Emirates Cricket Board chief selector Abdul Razzaq Kazim inaugurated the tournament.

In the Umm Al Quwain cricket tournament, Shehzad of Dolphin Club produced a deadly spell of 7 for 41 against Hotline.

In another match Asim Kaleem of Emirates Islamic Bank cracked 92 runs to guide his team to a six-wicket win over Metro Electromech.
