Singh, who recovered from cancer has been picked for the event despite doubts whether he will be fit enough to play top class cricket.
Meanwhile, VVS Laxman, who was doubtful to get the nod has been selected into the Test squad for the series against New Zealand.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee, which met at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai, earlier on Friday picked the Indian teams for the Test series against New Zealand, and the T20 International series against New Zealand and ICC World T20 2012 in Sri Lanka.
