Dubai: T. Harkirat's all-round performance saw Carfare Cricket Club XI defeat Wings XI by five wickets in the opening match of the tenth Dulsco Ramadan T20 tournament being played at the Zabeel Park Cricket grounds.
Harkirat took three wickets as Wings, batting first, set up a target of 102 for Carfare. He then hit a 31-ball 22 before he was run out to bag the man of the match award.
The tournament, organised by Dulsco Sports Club in association with the Dubai Municipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.
Electing to bat first, Wings XI lost their opener Rafique who had to retire with injury. His partner Amir was bowled for 13 after he hit one boundary from the 25 balls he faced.
One-down Sarfaraz and Neeraj returned to the pavilion after their wickets were snared by Shahid. Farid then brought some respectability to Wings XI innings scoring 28 runs with the help of two sixes and one four.
Big boost
After his departure Ravid and Fazil made ten and 11 respectively to give some boost to Wings XI innings but could manage only 101 losing seven wickets in the end. Shahid and Harkirat shared six wickets conceding 19 and 31 runs respectively.
Carfare XI made a sound start with their openers Aashish and Kaleem putting on 21 for the first wicket. Kaleem was caught off Mansour's bowling after making two runs from five balls.
