Mumbai: Australian left-arm pacer Doug Bollinger delivered a stirring spell of fast bowling against former champions Deccan Chargers to lead Chennai Super Kings into the final of the Indian Premier League 3 yesterday.

Bollinger, who came in to the tournament as a replacement for the injured Jacob Oram, claimed four wickets in two spells to help dismiss the Chargers for 104 in 19.2 overs and claim a momentous 38-run victory for the Super Kings.

Needing to chase down a target of 142 in the second semifinal the Adam Gilchrist-led Charges were undone by Bollinger who was immense in capturing four wickets for 13 runs in his four over spell.

The Super Kings will now play Mumbai Indians in Sunday’s final.

The winners were also well served by left arm orthodox bowler Shadab Jakati from Goa who claimed the wickets of Herscelle Gibbs (18) and Monish Mishra.

Bodapati Sumanth (16) and Ryan Harris (15) had revived Deccan Charger’s hopes with a seventh wicket partnership before Bollinger claimed both their scalps in his second spell.

Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds played an aggressive hand with 23 off 22 balls but did not receive the necessary support before falling to spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Earlier, Ryan Harris took three wickets as the Deccan Chargers restricted the Super Kings to 142/7.

Subramaniam Badrinath top scored for Chennai with a 32-ball 30 before he was run out by Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist.

Srikkanth Anirudha hit 2 sixes and a four in his 15-ball 24 to propel Chennai to the 140-run mark.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who did not look to be in his best form, and Albie Morkel were dismissed in successive overs to leave Chennai struggling at 96/5.

Harmeet Singh had Dhoni caught by Rohit Sharma at gully after the Chennai captain added 52 runs with Badrinath for the fourth wicket.

Pragyan Ojha struck in the next over when he had Albie Morkel (4) caught by Andrew Symonds at long-on.
