Hyderabad: The third and final Twenty20 International (T20) match between India and Australia was called off due to the poor condition of the outfield of the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Friday.

The lack of action meant the three-match series was drawn 1-1.

The first match was won by India by nine wickets via the Duckworth/Lewis method.

However, India, who dominated Australia in the preceding ODI series, were given a rude awakening in the second game, the visitors handing their hosts a thumping eight-wicket win on Tuesday.

“Match abandoned. A sodden outfield the culprit, with the series finishing as a 1-1 tie. #INDvAUS,” Cricket Australia said in a tweet.

Australia will now head for home ahead of the Ashes series against England and India will prepare for the limited-overs series against New Zealand in nine days’ time.
