Mumbai: Chirayu Amin, President of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) was on Monday appointed as the interim chairman and commissioner of the Indian Premier League after Lalit Modi was suspended late last night by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The IPL governing council met here and deliberated for close to two hours before deciding on Amin.

The Board, however, has decided against appointing an interim IPL committee to help Amin run the show.

Amin is an experienced administrator and also heads Alembic Chemicals.

Earlier in the day, Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi rejected claims of corruption in the running of the lucrative Twenty20 competition only hours after being suspended by the national cricket board and just as a governing council meeting started Monday to investigate the allegations.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India suspended Modi late Sunday, soon after Chennai beat Mumbai in the final.

"The BCCI is scared of the truth. Nothing wrong has been done," New Delhi Television quoted Modi as saying Monday.

"Every decision was endorsed by the governing council."

Modi, a wealthy businessman who has been involved in top level cricket administration since 2004, had earlier said he'd take the blame if irregularities had occurred.

"If there is any flouting of rules and any irregularities, I shall take full responsibility," Press Trust of India quoted him as saying.

"I assure millions of passionate fans of the league and the game across the globe that the IPL is clean and transparent. We should not allow this brand to be diluted and we will not."

There are 22 charges in the BCCI chargesheet against Modi. Here are the top 10:

1. Rigging bids in aborted round of bidding for two new teams

2. Encouraging, attempting collusive bidding

3. Unexplained USD 80 million facilitation fee about which BCCI was kept in dark

4. Arm-twisting successful bidder, Kochi, to withdraw

5. Indiscipline, levelling baseless charges against BCCI bosses

6. Non-disclosure of interest/stake in Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders

7. Misappropriation of funds

8. Irregularities in awarding broadcast and internet rights

9. Ignoring irregularities in Rajasthan Royals in which Modi's kin holds stake

10. Breaching confidentiality clause by tweeting Kochi's share-holding pattern.
