Dubai: Legendary left-arm pacer Wasim Akram will once again inspire domestic cricketers to give their best by playing alongside them in the third edition of the Gulf Super Sixes tournament, to be held from November 30 to December 14.

Speaking to Gulf News, Arshad Zaheer, the Chief Executive Officer of event managers Crayons Communications, said: “We will once again bring in outstanding international cricketers from around the world to play for the eight teams that finish on top. The names of the cricketers will be announced soon.” The event will be sponsored by Gulf Oil and the Landmark Group.

Last year, top cricketers like Muttiah Muralitharan, Vinod Kambli, Nayan Mongia, Maninder Singh, Sanath Jayasuriya, Lance Klusener and Imran Nazir took part in the event.

Akram, the brand ambassador of the event and who has played in the first two editions, said: “The Gulf Super Sixes corporate cricket league has an outstanding group of talented individuals with phenomenal cricket skills. As a person with a strong passion for cricket, I feel it is my obligation to pass my knowledge down to these players and help them develop the game further for future generations to thrive. People who come to watch these players will be fully entertained with the standard of play.”

The third edition is being held under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Cricket Council. The qualifiers and final will be played at International Cricket Council (ICC) Global Cricket Academy grounds and Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
