Sharjah: Fifteen years is a long time organising a race without a break, and that honour goes to Sharjah.

Nicolo di San Germano, UIM F1 Promoter was the first to acknowledge this as he paid tribute to the “best venue on the F1 circuit”.

“Everyone loves to be in Sharjah. You can go and speak to the drivers, to the mechanics, to the spectators. Everyone loves to be in Sharjah. I think Sharjah is the only venue that has organised a race for such a long time and that, to us is a world record,” San Germano told Gulf News.

“All venues put in a lot of effort in organising races around the world, but when it comes to Sharjah we find it stands for the best. Everything has been done so well over so many years and they keep on raising the bar with each race,” he added.

2015 will be a year of grand festivities with SCTDA joining hands with Sharjah government entities in celebrating the emirate’s selection as the ‘Capital of Arab Tourism’.

The Sharjah Grand Prix will be the 258th F1 race on the international calendar, and this has a unique flair with three drivers going head-to-head for the world crown. “We complete 15 years in Sharjah and we should be planning for the next 15 years perhaps,” San Germano said.
