Mamaia,Constanta: Leading from start to finish, Dubai's Arif Al Zafein and Nadir Bin Hindi dominated a dramatic opening race at the Romanian Grand Prix to win the third round of the Class 1 Powerboat World Championship on the waters of Lake Siutghiol in Mamaia-Constanta.

Piloting the Victory Team cat Fazza 3, Al Zafein and Bin Hindi - who claimed Pole Position earlier in the day - made a lightning start to the race to reach the opening buoy ahead of their seven rivals.

It was a lead they never looked in danger of losing as they cruised to victory by almost 24 seconds at an average speed of 182 kilometres per hour from teammates Jean Marc Sanchez and Mohammad Al Muhairi in Victory 1 with Norway's Jorn Tandberg and Kolbjorn Selmer in third a further 45 seconds adrift in Welmax.

Fazza's win further underlines the strength of the Al Zafein/Bin Hindi partnership with both pilots strictly observing Ramadan.

"We got off to a great start today and were never in any real danger throughout the race," Bin Hindi said. "It's true we're fasting, but we're both strong individuals and we work hard on being race ready. Our aim was to win both Pole Position and the race itself so you could say it has been a perfect day's racing for us."
