Dubai: All further activities on the 2009 UIM/WPPA Class One World Powerboat Championships were cancelled following the sad demise of two Victory Team members during the penultimate round off the Mina Seyahi waters on Friday.

"Today's race stands cancelled and there will be no further activity for Class One," Saeed Hareb, Managing Director of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) and President, World Professional Powerboat Association (WPPA) told a stunned media room last night.

"As of now and out of respect for our departed brothers the Class One season is over," Hareb said.

Ironically, Victory 1's Mohammad Majid Al Muhairi and Jean-Marc Sanchez were chasing teammates Arif Saif Al Zafein and Nader Bin Hindi in Fazza for the world title with just eight points separating the two boats.
