Biopic is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan
Make-up artist Subhash Shinde says working on the upcoming biopic Sarbjit is a challenging task.
The film is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and sentenced to death. He was attacked by the inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later.
“Sarbjit is a very challenging film for me. For Sarbjit, I had to spend a lot of time on research. I am quite thrilled about this project. Since, Aishwarya [Rai Bachchan] is playing Sarabjit’s sister [Dalbir Kaur] in the film, her look will be de-glam ... with minimum make-up,” he said.
“We did the look test a few days back and started shooting for the film a couple of days back,” added the artist, whose portfolio includes Grand Masti and Mary Kom.
The film has a vast schedule, which includes shooting in Mumbai from December then moving on to filming in various cities of Punjab like Amritsar, Malerkotla and Patiala in the month of January. The last leg of the schedule will be shot in Delhi in February.
Starring Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit Singh, the film is being directed by Omung Kumar.
It is slated for release on May 20, 2016.
