Dubai:  The Dubai-Singapore pair of Ishu Rupani and Ranjit Khanna teamed up to win the 22nd Gulf News Merchants Cup golf tournament played in perfect conditions at the pristine Emirates Golf Club’s Faldo Course.

Rupani and Khanna played some good golf to win the Pairs Stableford event with a score of 44 points. The best Stableford score was counted on each hole.

Finishing in runner-up position with the same score were Anil Shivanna and Subhojit Biswas, following the countback.

In third place were Kavit Palicha and Sanjay Naithani with a score of 42 points.

Ashok Kumar and Pairat Sukngam were the fourth best finishers also with a total of 42 points, after the countback was applied.

Robin Kadyan and Angela Kadyan were the third pair to score 42 points but they finished fifth.

Khanna is a 14 handicapper but played off 11 in the tournament.

His playing partner Rupani said: “I’m extremely excited about winning this wonderful tournament.”
