Director Anil Ravipudi, who impressed with the blockbuster Pataas on his debut, returns with his third film, Raja The Great.

With Ravi Teja in the lead, Ravipudi promises a mass entertainer for a family audience on the occasion of Diwali.

Raja the Great is the story of a mother’s dreams and the effort it takes to make them happen. So what if her son is visually challenged? It does not stop this police constable from dreaming big for her son. She hopes that someday, her Raja will don the khaki uniform as a police officer. Tamil actress Radhika plays Teja’s on-screen mother.

“This is a new genre that I have attempted,” said Ravipudi, who along with Teja visited institutes for the blind to understand the behaviour and body language of the challenged. He is happy with Teja’s portrayal and calls it his best performance.

“Raja, despite his handicap, is involved in a mission to rescue the daughter of a police officer,” added Ravipudi. “His mother makes him a part of the operation where he soon becomes the main player.”

Mehreen Pirzada is paired opposite Teja. She is Lucky, the daughter of a police chief played by Prakash Raj. Bollywood’s Vivan Bhatena makes his Telugu debut as the villain of the story.

Raja the Great was shot at Darjeeling, Raigad and Kerala. Sai Karthik has composed music. Mohana Krishna is the DOP.

Raja the Great is produced by Dil Raju and releases in the UAE on October 19.
