The music video for Qurram Hussain’s new single Turn up the Music, Mr DJ released on Saturday.
He can be seen dancing with actress Ayesha Omar and choreographer Hasan Rizvi.
The music video, directed by filmmaker Wajahat Rauf, was shot in Karachi with a large group of dancers.
Hussain said that it’s a light-hearted party song about letting go of all your tensions.
“As a musician, I’ve been selfish. I don’t really bother with what the listener wants, and it’s mostly been about my expression and my experiences. And it did incredibly well for me,” Hussain, who is part of the Canadian Bhangra music group JoSH, said.
Hussain promised that his latest song and its video will be a lot of fun. He hopes Turn up the Music, Mr DJ will be just as well-received as his duet Desan Da Raja with Komal Rizvi, which won the Google Award for being the fourth most-watched YouTube video in Pakistan.
Hussain revealed that he Rizvi and Omar had a blast during the shoot of the music video.
“Though I wasn’t very good at it, Ayesha and Hasan somehow made me dance,” he said.
Mr DJ is the second of six music videos to be released in season two of Cornetto Pop Rock. The first was Yeh Kya Hua by Komal Rizvi.
Hussain also confirmed that he is doing a duet with a young female artist in season two. He says he is involved in the three tracks of season two; one is Turn up the Music, Mr DJ, the other one is a duet, and the third is a production for another artist.
“I’ll be getting to explore three different songs, though I’ve always been more inclined to pop. There was a lot of pressure after season one, especially because Desaan Da Raja did amazingly well and I am hoping to raise the bar now.”
