The irresponsible utterances of some of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members is a matter of serious concern and has been rightfully condemned and disapproved by everybody including the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is nothing but a political gimmick to continue raising the issue of minorities, repeatedly after apologies have been tendered.

It will neither do good to our country nor will it benefit the parties indulging in the issue. It is time to move on and it is also time for Modi and senior leaders of BJP to excercise control over the fringe elements within the party. If allowed to continue, it will not only wreck BJP’s chances in the upcoming elections, but the Opposition will also ensure that deep mistrust is created in the minds of the minorities’ who otherwise would have let these irresponsible incidents go unnoticed.

After all, there have been various hate speeches made by members of other political parties in the past and they still continue to do so. As a man who talked about development for all, Modi has the highest responsibility to ensure that the members of his party refrain from sharing their extreme views. With regards to his recent announcement on suspending sectarian violence, there is nothing absurd in that as 10 years is the target he set to achieve his goals. The opposition parties in India will never show any maturity and their foremost priority is to obstruct the functioning of the Parliment as tit for tat.
