We have observed a Bo or "Peepal" tree in our neighbourhood in Bur Dubai for more than three years. It is located near the Bur Dubai sub-station, on a land that was occupied by people who lived in portable cabins.

It is not clear if these people were staff from the sub-station or from some other company. But during their stay, they had planted several trees that added to the greenery of the area.

However, a month ago, we saw the cabins removed and the people move out. Since then, the trees are drying up.

We called the Dubai Municipality and requested them to check if they would be able to help the trees.

I appreciate the Municipality, as they were very prompt in attending the call. They sent their staff to the spot the very next day and we even received a couple of "thank you" text messages.

However, as time passed, no action was taken and the trees are drying up. A gardener who had previously visited the site said he had not been instructed to take action. Would the trees survive until all the paperwork is done? The gardener said he fully understood the situation, but could not help!

We hope the paperwork will be expedited and the Municipality will come through in time for the trees to be saved!
