No point
I wonder why Gulf News has opened up a comments section online, for such a silly thing (‘Pakistan players fined for breaching curfew’, Gulf News, February 14)? It is not needed, except if someone wants to criticise the players for it. If that’s the case, the media is not being responsible, as people will be encouraged to criticise silly things.

Love books
I recently read on Gulf News’ Facebook page that I could become a book reviewer. I love reading and would love to participate in any literary projects the newspaper may have. How do I go about this?

Wrong name
I have repeatedly stated in my correspondence to Gulf News that my name is ‘Hossein’ and not ‘Hussain’. Yet, the newspaper insists on changing my name every time I write in a letter or comment. Why can’t you be accurate?
From Mr Syed Hussain

Gulf News follows the house style when it comes to names with its origins in Arabic. We follow the phonetic scheme as it is meant to sound and be written in Arabic, as opposed to adapted spellings. As a standard policy, we change all names to follow the house style.
