Not just them

Don’t be biased when stating the nationality in the newspaper (“Forging documents isn’t worth the risk”, Gulf News, August 31). Definitely, people from many other nationalities — and not just Filipinos — were also creating fake documents to have a career here in the UAE.

Unfair

What about other nationalities? They too, are doing a lot of forgery.

The Gulf News report is based on facts and figures and raises an important issue. It is not targeting any community or meant to raise any comparisons. It was news, and it was reported. We do not operate under any bias.

Gulf News

Missing area

In Gulf News’ report, there was a map showing the impact of Ebola around the world (“Ebola cases ‘could cross 20,000’”, Gulf News, August 29). Kashmir was not shown as part of India. Please rectify this issue and publish the map again, showing Kashmir as part of India.

The correction was carried out immediately. And we would like to thank the reader for the feedback, as it helps us stay accurate and relevant. The error occurred because while creating the artwork, inadvertently the name of the country ‘India’ was placed on the area where Kashmir is. Hence the region was not visible in the map.

Gulf News

Reader pictures in traffic

I suggest that Gulf News discourage readers who take photographs while driving by including them in community reports (‘Motorists jump the queue at UAE petrol station to save time,’ Gulf News, August 25). Photographs shot from inside vehicles should not be accepted at all.

Gulf News has always been a strong advocate of driving safety and would never encourage violation of any rules. With reference to traffic photographs, we do not accept pictures taken by the driver of a vehicle, unless it is very clear that he/she was in a stationary automobile and safe, without violating any traffic rules. We do accept pictures taken by a passenger in a vehicle, as that does not impede driving safety.

Gulf News

Same thing

Someone in Gulf News seems to have just copied and pasted a report from an Indian news website (“Dead foetus shows up 36 years later”, Gulf News, August 27). A few minutes ago, this news was on NDTV and Times of India.

This is a report filed by an international news agency (AFP) that supplies to various news media organisations around the world. So, you would find the story posted on multiple news sources, be it print or online editions. So, Gulf News has not copied the report. It has published the report sent by AFP. We hope that helps clarify the matter.
