Thiruvananthapuram: Celebrated Kerala music director MG Radhakrishnan passed away at a private hospital here on Friday. He was 70.
His family members and many of his friends and film fraternity members were at the hospital when the end came. He had been undergoing treatment for liver malfunction.
Radhakrishnan was born in Harippad to famous musician Malabar Gopalan Nair and Kamalakshayamma. Vocalist Dr Omanakutty and popular playback singer MG Sreekumar are his siblings.
Radhakrishnan, who had once been an artiste with the All India Radio, burst on to the Malayalam film industry with his music composition for the film Thambu in 1978.
Some of his compositions like Naadha nee varum kaalocha kelkuvan for the movie Chaamaram and Pinakkamano for Ananthabhadram are among all-time favourite Malayalam songs.
Some of the famous movies for which he composed music include Thambu, Thakara, Poochakkoru Mookuthi, Vellanakalude Naadu and Manichithrathazhu.
