Dubai: A 13-year-old Emirati boy has won a sports car after his father entered his name in a raffle during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

Mohammad Marzouk Al Matroushi won a Nissan 370Z sports coupe in the January 26 draw under the Nissan Grand Raffle DSF promotion.

The teen lives in Dubai’s far-off Hatta region with his family. It was Mohammad’s father who had put down the boy’s name on one of the raffle tickets that he had entered for the draw. Mohammad’s father works at the emergency department in Dubai’s Rashid Hospital and had stopped at an Enoc petrol station near the Al Wasl Sports Club after work to top up his car’s petrol tank. While there, he bought some items from the convenience store, for which he received five raffle coupons to enter the daily Nissan Grand Raffle.

Al Matroushi said that he filled each coupon in the name of one of his five children and Mohammad came out the winner. There was joy and disbelief in the Al Matroushi household, he added.

The car was welcome, he said, but added that since they lived in a hilly area they had decided to sell the sports coupe and use the proceeds to buy a four-wheel drive vehicle that better suited the terrain.

Thanking the DSF and its organisers, the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (Depe), Al Matroushi said the festival provided life-changing opportunities for residents and visitors to the UAE.

The Nissan Grand Raffle is among several winning opportunities being presented by DSF 2013 and gives shoppers the chance to drive home one of 12 different Nissan models. Up for grabs are the Micra Hatchback, the Sunny, Altima and Maxima Sedans, the Qashqai, Murano, Patrol, Juke, Xterra, Pathfinder, and Armada SUVs, and the 370Z Sports Coupe. Customers are entitled to a raffle coupon for every Dh20 spent on non-fuel purchases at Enoc and Eppco petrol stations, or for every Dh200 spent at participating retail outlets.
