Abu Dhabi: The world’s largest book, ‘This is Mohammad’, went on display in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wahda Mall on Tuesday, with the book being officially accepted into the Guinness World Records in a signing ceremony, a first for an Arabic book.

The book, which weighs 1,500 kilograms, contains 431 pages, and is five metres in length, and eight metres in width. According to the Guinness World Records, it is the world’s largest, longest, widest, heaviest and most expensive book.

Costing Dh11 million to make, the book was worked on by more than 50 people, and written by Dr Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al Muslih, a Saudi author. The book presents stories from the life of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), with the goal of showcasing his positive influence and to send a message of peace and tolerance.

The book will remain on display at the shopping mall throughout the month of Ramadan and the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

“We are looking forward to spread the right message during Ramadan. With the award-winning book display, I look forward to many visitors coming forward to visit the mall along with their family and friends and make the most of Ramadan and the days of Eid Al Fitr,” said Mohammad Nauman Thakur, general manager at Al Wahda Mall.

“Visitors are invited to click pictures along with the book, and participate in the one million signature campaign as this is the last opportunity to witness the book in the region”, he added.

Al Wahda Mall will be the book’s last stop in the UAE, having already been displayed at several other major shopping malls in the country. The book’s next destination will be another Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country, where it will go on display for the public.
